Toucan Coders has partnered with Black Girls Do Engineer Corporation to provide robotics training and coding classes. Black Girls Do Engineer is passionate about developing girls and young women, ages 9 to 21, in all areas of STEM. The organization's goal is to provide access, awareness, and advocate for two million Black-American girls to pursue STEM careers by the year 2050. The organization will also provide mentoring, personal growth regiments, STEM projects and activities, STEM challenges, and guidance on career paths based on insight from professionals that are leaders in the STEM industry. Our leadership team members come from a diverse background to provide not only a domestic, but an international effort to promote STEM and bridge the gap that exists in technology and science among underprivileged and indigenous groups.

Brittany Leslie is a rising junior studying Biomolecular Science at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. She is passionate about cancer nanomedicine research and STEM. Her passion in nanotechnology is also coupled with her growing interest in the field of computer science. Having won several national and state awards in computer science and seeing the underlying gap that exists in technology, she founded Toucan Coders, a non-profit organization that focuses on teaching students coding across the world.

Coming from the border city of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Diego is a junior double-majoring in Chemistry and Gender & Sexuality Studies. He started his college studies at a university in Monterrey, Mexico, where he served as vice-president of a sexual and reproductive health group aimed to demystify misconceptions about sexuality in highly conservative environments, and in 2017, he served as a clinical volunteer at a United Nations refugee settlement in Zambia working on HIV/AIDS prevention. In 2019, Diego transferred to NYU persevering through immigration and financial challenges of a foreign student, and he continue to contribute his skills to those less fortunate.

Chéla S. Wallace is a STEM advocate that resides in NYC. Chela is also the Director of K-12 Science for KIPP NYC. Her mission is to empower the next generation of creators, thinkers, explorers and innovators who will shift the world.

Hayden Leslie is currently a sophmore in High School. He is also 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan, a varsity swimmer, and an avid gamer. Hayden serves as the director of student experience and learning. He interacts with students on a weekly basis, after classes, to obtain feedback and suggestions.
